Fletcher C Johnson- Happy Birthday: Amazing song I got as a track of the day from Insound.

Such a timeless rock sound to it, I think it’ll have a lot of mileage. I saw this on someone’s best tracks of 2012 list and was pretty floored at how much I loved it.

Plants and Animals- That was the end of that: I lost track of these guys after seeing them at First Fridays a few years back. We certainly wore the grooves in on this one in Whistles.Ħ. I like the early 80s power pop, almost soundtracky feel to it.

You will find yourself singing it ALL DAY if you’re not cautious. Sam Flax- Fire doesn’t burn itself: Be careful, this song is highly addictive. I hope there is more to come from Tegan and Sara as a synth-pop outfit and a departure from their folky, emo stuff.ĥ. This track is among my favorites on the album, partly due to the Prince-vibe I get from it. I’ve had mixed emotions about this band for years, but for me this is hands down the best thing they’ve done. Tegan and Sara- Now I’m all messed up: Ok, yeah, I love Heartthrob. And I love the way it explodes out of that Dude York song.Ĥ. Seeing them open for Cold War Kids was pretty confirming that Superhumanoids are going to be making lots of really wonderful music. Superhumanoids- Geri:This song has been growing and growing on me over the last year. The lyrics on the chorus are fun and it the song has a bit of a spring anthem feel to it.ģ. Dude York- The Lake: Moving into something a little more rock n roll, Dude York is a Seattle trio I expect to see tearing it up. I love the way it builds into the main part of the song and the beat’s pretty addictive. Plus I think I could make a case for it being my favorite of all of their tunes. Little Dragon- Feather: This is an old LD track from the 2009 album Machine Dreams, but I can’t get away from it lately. I tried to get it done quickly as April and May are going to be ridiculous with new music from some of my favorite artists… Stay tuned.ġ. The music is pretty all over the place on this one-a little more upbeat and less somber than 41. The title is a reference to afterhours nonsense and mayhem. Despite smaller numbers this year and some truly unfortunate drop-offs, it proved to be another successful trip to the Pacific Northwest complete with fresh snow and lots of goofing around in the village with old friends. This playlist was pretty much finished up by the time I headed to Vancouver and Whistler for Presidents Day Weekend.
